FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) are getting more and more popular nowadays. They are used in digital signal processing, aerospace and defense systems, prototyping, high performance computing and many other different fields. Quite big problem which is encountered during development of FPGA projects is that they are difficult, and requires from programmers/developers highly specialized knowledge. Purpose of this presentation is to demonstrate and evaluate a compiler from high level object oriented programming language (Virgil) to hardware description language, which can be synthesized to the FPGA.
